Statement of Faith

God

WE BELIEVE in one sovereign God, eternally existing in three persons: the everlasting Father, His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, and the Holy Spirit, the giver of life; and we believe that God created the Heavens and the earth out of nothing by His spoken word, and for His own glory.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was true God and true man, existing in one person and without sin; and we believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as Lord of all, High Priest, and Advocate.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin and righteousness, testifies to Jesus Christ and salvation in Him, indwells and gives life to believers, enables them to understand the Scriptures, empowers them for godly living, and gifts them for service and witness.

The Bible

WE BELIEVE that God has revealed Himself and His truth in the created order, in the Scriptures, and supremely in Jesus Christ; and that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God and absolutely inerrant in the original writing, so that they are fully trustworthy and of supreme and final authority for faith and life. With the addition of the book of Revelation we believe that the canon of Scripture is complete and closed. We believe that the meaning of scripture is to be found as one diligently applies the grammatical-historical method of interpretation under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.

Creation and the Fall

WE BELIEVE that God directly created Adam and Eve, the historical parents of the entire human race; and that they were created in His own image, distinct from all other living creatures, and in a state of original righteousness.

WE BELIEVE that our first parents sinned by rebelling against God’s revealed will and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death, and that as a result all human beings are born with a sinful nature that leads them to sin in thought, word, and deed.

Salvation

WE BELIEVE that God directly created Adam and Eve, the historical parents of the entire human race; and that they were created in His own image, distinct from all other living creatures, and in a state of original righteousness.

WE BELIEVE that our first parents sinned by rebelling against God’s revealed will and thereby incurred both physical and spiritual death, and that as a result all human beings are born with a sinful nature that leads them to sin in thought, word, and deed.

Christ's Return and Eternity

WE BELIEVE that the human soul is eternal and that the souls of the redeemed spend eternity with God in heaven while the souls of the unredeemed will spend eternity in a literal hell.

WE BELIEVE in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth in glory to establish the promised kingdom, in which He will reign for 1,000 years from Jerusalem. Prior to His return and kingdom, the world will experience a period of tribulation that the saints of God will be spared. After the kingdom Satan will be cast into the lake of fire and the saints will enter into the eternal state.

The Church

WE BELIEVE that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the Church. The Church, under the headship of Jesus Christ, is God’s special redeemed community having clear duties designed to glorify God by making disciples of all the nations; by worshipping Him with confession, prayer, and praise; by living holy lives worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ; and by caring for all of God’s creation and actively seeking the good of everyone, especially those in the Body of Christ.

Baptism and Communion

WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ gave His church two ordinances that it is to observe: believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Table. Subsequent to repentance and faith the new believer is to be baptized by immersion and thereby publicly identified as a disciple of Jesus Christ. All disciples of Jesus Christ are also to regularly partake in the Lord’s Table as a public remembrance of what He did for them in purchasing their redemption on the cross.
