“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
— Psalm 127:1
Recently, I have started placing inspiring verses from God’s Word in my email account, changing them periodically so that every time I open my email, I am reminded of a truth that I personally need to hear.
For me, these Scriptures have become a simple but important reminder to surrender everything to the Lord and allow Him to be the Leader and Director of everything I do in His work. It is so easy, especially in ministry, to become consumed with plans, decisions, schedules, programs, and opportunities—and unintentionally begin carrying responsibilities that ultimately belong to God.
One verse that has especially spoken to me recently is Psalm 127:1: “Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
What a needed reminder! We are called to labor faithfully, but God must do the building. We can develop programs, distribute biblical resources, reach hundreds of thousands through media, and create opportunities for discipleship—but only God can change hearts, revive His Church, and produce lasting spiritual fruit.
This is the posture we desire for Endure International: to work diligently while continually asking, “Lord, are You building this? Are we following You?” We want Him to reign over our plans, resources, relationships, and every decision we make.
Praying for God to Build in Indonesia
This truth is especially on our hearts as we prepare for an important time of ministry in Indonesia this September.
For several years, God has graciously allowed us and our partners to invest in the Indonesian Church through teaching His Word. Thousands of biblical programs have been produced and broadcast, and additional discipleship resources are now reaching people through social media.
But our goal has never been to produce more Christian content or achieve greater numbers.
We are praying for something much greater.
We are asking God to use His Word to revive, strengthen, and establish His Church in Indonesia.
During our visit, we will gather with pastors and church leaders and encourage them toward a renewed commitment to intentional biblical discipleship within their churches and small groups. We desire to place these biblical resources into their hands—not as a substitute for the local church, but as tools for the Church to help believers systematically study Scripture, grow in Christ, and become disciple-making disciples.
The need is significant. The Church faces spiritual opposition, deception, compromise, false teaching, and the constant pressures of the world. Scripture reminds us that our response cannot simply be more Christian activity. The Church must be deeply rooted in God’s Word and firmly established upon the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our prayer is that Indonesian believers will know what they believe, understand the Scriptures, live faithfully according to them, and stand firm when their faith is challenged.
Would You Pray With Us?
As we prepare for Indonesia, please pray:
- That the Lord Himself would build, and that we would never substitute our plans for His work.
- That God would reign over every meeting, conversation, relationship, and decision.
- That pastors and church leaders would embrace the urgent need for intentional biblical discipleship.
- That churches would use these resources effectively in congregations, homes, Bible studies, and small groups.
- That believers would become firmly established in Scripture and equipped to stand against the schemes of the enemy.
- That God would bring genuine revival and spiritual strengthening to His Church.
- That disciples would become disciple-makers, multiplying God’s Word throughout Indonesia.
Ultimately, Endure International, our partners at Thru The Bible, our programs, and our resources cannot accomplish any of this on our own.
Only God Can Build His Church
Our responsibility is to faithfully place everything He has entrusted to us back into His hands and say, “Lord, lead us. Direct us. Build what You desire to build and keep us from laboring where You are not leading.”
As we prepare to travel to Indonesia, that is our prayer. We are not trusting in our programs, experience, or resources. We are asking God to take what He has placed in our hands and accomplish something that only He can accomplish.
May Christ reign over His Church, over you and me, and may His Word take deep roots in our hearts on a daily basis! And may God raise up throughout Indonesia, and around the world, a growing movement of disciples who faithfully make disciples for generations to come.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
Thank You for Trusting God’s Sovereignty With Us
Thank you for standing with us in prayer and faithfully partnering with us as we seek to follow wherever the Lord leads and faithfully participate in what He is building. Every program we produce, every person we follow up with, and every local ministry partner we support is part of one prayer—that God would use His word and our faithfulness to build His Church where His name is least known.
In Christ,
Bashar Abdo
